親切な道案内

マンハッタンの道はわかりやすくてうれしい。

地図を広げれば、横に走る道は下から上へ1st,2nd,3rd STREETで、縦に走る道は右から1st,2nd,3rd AVENUE。

道が、ちょうど世界地図の緯度と軽度のような役割をしてくれるので、二つの線の交わる点でおおまかな位置をすぐに把握できる。

正確には、ビルディングごとにつけられた数字で場所は特定できるので、初めてNYに来る人とでも、現地待ち合わせなんてことも、わりと気軽にされています。

方向オンチの僕にも、優しい街なのです。


ところが、この優しい法則にも例外があって、1st STREETより南に下がると、Canal,Charlton STREETなどといった数字以外の名称にかわってくる。

長く生活をすれば覚えるのかもしれないけれど、いまは数字ではない場所が苦手です。

あの日も、なれない道にてこずりながら、地図とにらめっこをしていました。

すると、男性が声をかけてきてくれます。

ＮＹでは、よく経験することです。

親切な男性は、朝の出勤途中にもかかわらず、レストランまで案内してくれました。

仕事は、リノベーションの会社の社長なんだそうで、仕事の様子を写真で紹介してくれながら、今度は仕事の現場をみせてあげると約束してくれました。

人生は社会見学のようなものです。

初めてのことからは、多くを学べると思い、部屋がどうやって綺麗にされているかとても興味を持ち、次に会える事を楽しみしたいと思いました。

すると彼から、今夜の夕食をさそわれました。

「ニューヨーカーは、冷たいと思われがちだけれど、道で誰かが転んだら、最初に笑うのもニューヨーカーなら、最初に手をさしのべるのもニューヨーカーなんだ。

冷たいと言うのは、他の場所から移住してきた人間だよ」

彼は自分のおじいちゃんもニューヨーク生まれのニューヨーク育ち、生粋のニューヨーカーだと僕につげ、ニューヨークで経験したいことをなんでもさせてあげたいと言って来てくれました。

馬に乗りたいか？ヘリコプターでニューヨークを眺めてみたいか？

異常なアートコレクターで、毎月のように海外にでかけては、アートの収集をしているそうで、そのアートをみせてあげたいとも言ってくれました。


夜になり、夕食中のこと。

２０pounds以上もあるキングクラブと、甘みのあるこれもまた大きなロブスターを食べていると電話がなりました。

Naguraから電話です。

今日の出来事を説明した後、その男性と電話をかわってもらいました。

その後,彼女は絶対に家まで送ってもらわないようにと強く念を押してきます。

というのも、彼はゲイで彼も僕をゲイだと思っていたからです。

たまたま、ゲイのお気に入りのエリア、チェルシー付近で地図を広げていた事や、僕のスタイリングに清潔感があった事、話し方がソフトだったことなどが理由だそうです。

彼は、有名人だから誘っているんじゃない！と電話で何度も言っていたそうですが、Naguraは心配性なので、危険を感じたようです。

電話をきったあとも、ＮＹに彼氏がいてもいいんじゃないか？とそれでもアタックされました。

翌日も、朝食の約束と仕事現場の見学の約束をしていたのですが、しばらく落ち着くまでやめておこうと思いました。

ゲイの世界では、アジア人はもてるらしい。

僕はそうではないんだＫれど、髪が黒くて美しかったりすると、魅力的なのかもしれない。

Irieのもて方をみるとそれもうなずける。（彼は女性にもかなりもてるけど）

小学生が、まず最初に学ぶことだけど、

知らない人についていくな！

と、タクシーの件も含めて最近Naguraからきつく注意されました。

今回の話題は、シンガポールで二回も出されて、どちらかというとそれにこりています。


まばたきほどの瞬間に感じた印象が、その後のお互いの関係を決定づけると聞いた事があります。

テレビの中の僕ではなく、プライベートな時間の自分の第一印象を、他人にでもなって、言葉ではなくて実際感じてみたいものです。

最初、記事を読んでいた時は、NYの人って親切でいいなぁと思っていたのですが…。
まさかのゲイですか(^^;
私は女ですし、男性同士の恋愛が好きなわけではないですが(というより苦手です)、小林さんが男性からもモテるっていうのは、なんか分かりますね。。

清潔感があるってのもそうですし、誰が見ても好青年で好印象ですよ(^-^)

闘いを見ると、小林選手はとても強く男らしいと思います。それ以外の時も男前なのは勿論ですが、色気もあると思います。勿論男性としてですが。
黒髪で色白だし、自分でも気付かないうちに、その優しい笑顔で人々を悩殺し、他にも小林さんを狙っている人がいっぱいいると思うと、心配です(ノ＞＜)ノ
naguraさんの心配は相当だと思います(;_;)
不快な気分にさせてしまったら申し訳ないのですが、勝負以外の時はちょっぴり無防備な感じがするのも色気を感じます。
確かに自分の第一印象を感じてみたいですね。
今回の内容もとても面白かったです!!!
