Congratulations Betty-san!

Hiroko Betty Suzuki is the first Japanese professional female football player, and a member of San Diego Surge.
They won the WFA Championship (Women's Football Alliance National Championship)
Congratulations!

She has played for 18 years. That takes a lot of motivation..
I have so much respect for my friend, Betty Suzuki!

選手生命の短い、タフなスポーツで18年間トップ選手として活躍するには、相当な技術、体力、精神力が必要だろうし、初めての日本人プレイヤーとして、たくさんの苦難や逆境も経験したと思う。
ベティさん、優勝おめでとう！

僕の大会後に、お互いの優勝をお祝いしました。

Congratulations Sawa-chan!

Sawa and the rest of Japan's national women's soccer team won the silver medal in this London Olympics 2012! What a great game.. Congratulations to my friend Sawa!

Sawa Homare & Abby Wambach are even great friends from when Sawa used to be a part of Washington Freedom, the US national league. A great friendship and great athletes = a great game. The US & Japanese team are both awesome.

澤ちゃんがアメリカのリーグに所属していた頃、練習を見学させてもらった。
アメリカのナショナル•チームのキャプテン、アビー•ワンバックとは当時チームメイト。
ワールドカップの時も、今回のオリンピックでも、お互いとお互いのチームをリスペクトしたコメントに感動する。
素晴らしいフレンドシップ、素晴らしいアスリート＝素晴らしい試合

どちらもいいチーム！

Congratulations Yuki!

Yuki Ota is the leader for the Japanese men's foil fencing team.
They won the silver medal in this London Olympics 2012. It is the first team medal for Japan in this sport! Congratulations!!

北京オリンピックでの個人銀メダル以降、フェンシング界のアイコンとして、またリーダーとしての重責と大きなプレッシャーの4年間だったと思うし、さらに今大会でのプレッシャーともなると、僕には想像もできないけれど、そのすべてを気迫にかえた素晴らしい試合だった。
同じ色のメダルではあるけれど、前銀メダルを超えた銀メダルと思う。
とにかくカッコよかった。
おめでとう！

Sawa at London

Homare Sawa is the captain of Japan's national women's soccer team. They are going into the first game of the finals tomorrow.

This is the same incredible team who won last year's World Cup, and Sawa is a great friend of mine.
I wish them a great game.

これを最後に引退を考えている選手もいるだろうし、同じメンバーでプレーするのは最後になるかもしれない。選手たちには一戦一戦を楽しんで欲しい。

Yuki Ota at the London Olympics 2012

One of my best friends Yuki Ota(太田雄貴) is at the London.
It's his third Olympics.
Selected to compete against the gold medalist of the 2008 Olympics, he won.. and next was to compete against the world ranking number one fencer, where he lost.
He was chosen to compete in the most difficult matches from the very start. He showed a great fight with the strongest fencers in the world.

In fencing, the person who gets 15pts first is the winner.
They were 13-14, Yuki was only one behind.. and then he got his 14th pt, so they were 14-14. In the very end, his opponent striked in a point. It was so, so close.

On the 5th, he will compete as a member(the captain) of Japan's national team!

The first Japanese Olympic medalist for fencing- he received his silver medal in the Beijing 2008 Olympics, and moved to the top of the world rankings after finishing runner-up in a Fleuret World Cup meet in Russia on 28 May 2009.
